Ab-surd. There is abundant lateral thinking in biology. You are calling scientists - and anyone who rejects the notion of deific hands in evolution - robots. You cannot argue "chance". It could "chance" that evolution is controlled by unicorns, but we have no evidence of same.

Evolution is based on the assumption that abiogenesis is a chance happening.

As to the rest, if you live long enough, you'll see it yourself. The patterns are very clear.

"Chance" in random chemical associations creating a stable subcellular form and "chance" in there being some magical being responsible are not the same thing. You're a great believer in scientific methodology, so bring so proof.

As to the rest: that is tosh. I'm an example against it.

Fantastic explanations of chance occurences are what have led to important discoveries. Most of these models are Aha! moments, ie noting the obvious pattern behind an unnoticed or previously uncertain observation.

This propensity requires a certain way of thinking, one that does not come from atheism.
If your thinking on this forum is any indication, you are a marker for it (this is of course, merely my opinion, not subject to peer review)

Again, not the same thing as the "chance" involvement of a god.

I bolded that sentence because it was unbelievably ridiculous.

Ford. Darwin. Mayr. Huxley. Haldane. Hamilton. Pauling. Watson. Crick. Leakey. Freud. Muller. Nei. Among many, many, many others.

Ad homeinem, and a poor one at that.

didnt you just say that being biased is what defines a theist?

COme now, I had thought you knew better than that. As far as evolution is concerned, we could have started off from snot from an aliens nose 2 billion years ago.
Putting a mathematical boundary on life formation is rather tricky when we only have one example and cannot examine other planets.

What you describe is better thought of as bureacratic inertia, not due to problems with reasoning, rather with powerful people blocking areas of research because they may rock the boat.

It doesn't come from theism either. Neither has anything to do with it..

How many of them were brought up and educated by atheists?

You said it, I just riposted.

But not all of them are unwilling to give a hearing to another point of view. I couldn't say the same for atheists. They are convinced they are right, just like theistic fundamentalists. They merely fall at the other end of the distribution curve from them.

It would still have to be what is a chance appearance, regardless of the fantastic explanation behind it.

Materialism devoid of spiritualism, with a decay in moral values, moral actions and accountability. Yup.

Then you dont know that many atheists. I dont believe that listening to someone elses point of view makes you any less biased if you dont intend on changing anything.

Ah! A new hypothesis, all pre-fitted to the facts.

Why does this matter? Perhaps you would like to state your synthesis? I was raised by an atheist. Does this matter?

No. You started with the insult. I was being nice.
