I don't do strategic real time. I love realtime(tactics) in Rome.

I hate making build cues in real time - that is for turnbased stuff. No strategic planner is making build plans in the same period of time it takes a military force to perform an attack or defense.

I play too many games according to shorty anyway, I'm glad to (willingly)eliminate an entire genre.

Yeh that's the one I like best. I do have an almost non-existent attention span but strategy should keep your mind active for a while, then just occupy yourself with something else for a bit. I find I spend more time designing the cool ships! Though seeing as I'm used to the Civ series and so many other long winded strategy games it's nothing new to me to be patient.
I like games which have as much as possible in them even if it's not all havoc style action like Halo(frankly that style of game pisses me off as it's too point and hold shoot.), but if they make a game so you miss one thing and it's game over it's really annoying if you're forgetful and have a serious lack of attention(like I do).

Glad you mentioned that, I'm looking for a decent new flight sim so I'll cross that off the list! I nearly got Heatseeker but you can't play as the russians apparently so that's basically all my favourite modern aircraft as I love MiGs and Sukhoi's.

I'm thinking of loading up WWIIONLINE despite it's goofy problems, just to get in a 109 again....and fight real people. computer A.I just is not there. (Even in Gav civ - I find the A.I so predicable).

i also like rome total war... but i find it gets boring fast... tactics are the same for most battles against the same civilization. think i'll try medieval 2 total war

also AI in rome total war is really stupid. I tried all kinds of battles at the highest difficulty and defending a city is a joke... so is attacking a city. in a field battle all you have to do is outflank them with cavalry, destroy their general (which isn't very difficult because mostly the AI leaves it exposed or worse just charges it at your infantry) and break their line by charging at the middle of it and they will start routing. When you can build the better units this process goes faster... large battles lasting 5 minutes tops.

Also the AI tends to leave important cities exposed... such as huge cities with good production facilities with only a governor or a single unit...

yeah star fox was good, the N64 had good 4 player games.

you should play dawn of war and the expansion if you like RTS. its based in the warhammer 40K universe, and its stunning. the zoom in graphics are awesome and the gameplay is great. very true to the 40k universe and you get to customise your troops uniforms wich is a nice touch.
