CERN is an anti-matter accelerator. The fact that accidents in CERN happen mean one of those anti-particles can collide with the wall...and Earth goes kaboom. gush....
Nope: sections of humanity have done so, not the race as a whole. And if there are lower lows to come that we don't survive? You're assuming again. I'm a weapons technologist: I have more idea than you ever will have. Hours to days. Including ourselves. What other species has the sheer stupidity to even consider doing it? You're still equating destruction with power. Just like, say, hurricane Katrina, the tsunami, earthquakes, ozone depletion, polar ice caps melting? I'm convinced. Because we can't do any of those. Draqon: CERN haven't ever made anywhere near enough antimatter to make a bomb. And a stress failure in the magnets was costly but hardly a potential world-killer accident.
It's not about the fact of whether or not we can do those things, that part can be solved by science and technology It's a matter of wanting to do these things, and working towards it.

I meant that with time, we will have such wonderous technology. Hell, I may not know squat about engineering, but no doubt our projects will become more and more advanced But if we did want to. If someone did want to, they could try. They could achieve it, that's the key of my point. A human being can want, and can actually work towards that want. A human has thier own will, not that of Nature.

So basically your key point is flawed: wanting and trying does not guarantee success. Ask any engineer. Every single engineering project in history is a compromise between what is desired and what is possible.

Actually if the human race deserves anything it is total destruction. And dont worry that will happen one day. The sad thing is we will take most of the earths life (animal/plant life) with us. I for one have not much faith in the human race to make up for its destructiveness. I think the climate will continue to get worse, animal- and plantlife will dissapear and with them our foodsources. Humankind is destined for doom. Now, wouldnt you rather have humans removed and let the rest of life live on on earth than to destroy all, humans and nature ? I get the feeling you are proud of the fact that humans are so 'powerful' (read destructive). If humankind was truly powerful we would have found a way to live in harmony with nature instead of destroying it. Wake up ! Grow up !
