Of course one should distinguish between the Florida panhandle (especially the wetern section) and the horror show that is the rest of the state. Much of the panhandle can be conceptualized as "Southern Alabama."

I'm from Alabama and I don't consider Florida as the south, much less part of the Dixie South. Florida is in a category all its own.

DUMBASS, I've been there. Don't you know what subjective opinion is? Of course, you think hillbillies and Dollywood and the southern thang is great. I don't. That's the most stupid thing about americans that's consistent. They think if they like something then it's somehow an objective fact.
It's a good snag, Baron. I can even overlook the jingoism at the end because it is important for those of us in the north and west--in my case the northwest--to remember that there is beauty in the South. Too often we get caught up in the politics that lead us to wonder if maybe we shouldn't have let the Confederacy go along its miserably merry way. The scenes from Texas, for instance ... it's quite easy to forget there's anything beautiful about Texas.
