But seriously, having a fleet of humans being chased by cylons arive in earth orbit certainly has possibilities.

Just imagine the religious and scientific implications of these people claiming earth is merely a lost 13th colony. That we did not evolve here.

We would see a period of technological advancement, particularly in weaponry, not seen since WW2 as we geared up for an impending cylon attack.

There would be chaos, upheaval, and rapid advancement as we ramped up our economy to a real war footing and absorbed BSG tech.

 

What year would it be on Earth?

 

Makes me think they're going to discover a contemporary - ie 2007-era - Earth, take one look at the state of affairs here, realize they can never risk exposing our already nutty world to the "truth about humanity", let alone that a hostile spacefaring race is hot on their heels itching to blast Earth out of existence, and the show will end with them meandering off into the Void with the vague hope of finding someplace else to call home.

 

I think the humans and Cylons will live together in peace on Earth. Either they arrrive together, or they make peace soon afterwards. What if all the humans on Earth are dead from nuclear war, and they have to repopulate the planet?

 

I would assume now. But, of course, that's not necesarily true.

But wow, big news. A BSG 2 hour direct-to-video movie:

SCI FI Channel confirmed on March 22, 2007 that the show has been renewed for a fourth season of 22 episodes, an increase from the previously announced 13 episodes. The order includes a two hour presentation of a direct-to-video movie airing in the fourth quarter of 2007. The regular fourth season will air beginning in early 2008.[9][10]

 

As for my theory:

I do not believe that Battlestar shall return us to a present-day Earth. This isn't "Stargate". Rather, I imagine three choices:

1. An extremely advanced Earth-based civilization, essentially 3,000 years ahead of the technology of either Cylons or Colonists. Judging from Kara and her vision, I am thinking a Hybrid Civilization, where the distinction between Cylon and Human is no more.

2. A planet vacant but for the Gods of the Colonists.

3. A planet ripe for colonization, but completely barren of intelligent life, the 13th Colonists having died at least a thousand years prior.

 

Just joking, really.

No clue what they're going to find on Earth, in spite of my earlier ramblings.

I loathe the fact that Adama didn't vote Baltar guilty. But I think he did it because Apollo proved to him that he was wrong in calling him "without integrity".

 

Sure, I agree. Apollo gave a great speech. But Baltar still should have fried. And I don't believe Adama would have voted to acquit.
