That was my initial theory too, until I saw the preview. Either way, should be a great episode.

I'm hoping Starbuck shows up again, too.

    **potential spoilers**

Oh I'm sure she will... and I'm sure she will have been to Earth. What's more... I'm pretty sure that "song" we heard (a friend told me) is a Beatles' song (I re-listened and compared). IF it is, then we pretty much know that Earth isn't the 13 colony... but the original homeworld of humanity. IF this is the case, then THEY are us, and we become the diaspora in the future. Oh, I hope it is!

Interesting theories. But why should the fact that it's a Beatles Song mean Earth is the original homeworld. Couldn't it just mean they're within forty lightyears of Earth?

Perhaps the mechanism the cylons use to upload their conciousness also works as a radio reciever. Perhaps all the cylons together work as an incredibly sensitive reciever capable of recieving radio from forty light years away.

This may be why the signal the cylons use can't be picked up by the humans. It may be so weak it can only be picked up by incredibly sensitive recievers. As a side effect, they pick up radio from forty light years away.

    PS Which Beatles song?

Why do I think that they are humans from EARTH first?

Oh-- the way we happen to have irrifutable proof that the races evolved from stone age creatures from this planet. The modern names used (Laura, Lee, William and whatnot) didn't exist eons ago if our planet were colonized by the already visibly mixed races of the BSG populace. Also, they wear ties, and dresses like we wear (like that wouldn't have changed since Earthlings populated the universe)

More importantly, THAT song was most definatly programmed in their heads. OH-- and it's definately a Beatles song.

"Watchtower: something or other (don't really remember, I hate the Beatles)

Some yes. Some I've heard from friends.

I'm willing to bet'cha all that I'm right-er than I am wrong on this one.

I am not so sure we can go by such notions as similar names and styles. Clearly, Battlestar is a mix of retro and futuristic - see the radio. Certainly, 50's style radios would not be common place 6000 years later, nor wuold they speak of an exodus TO Earth, rather than one away from it.

    Also consider this:

6,000 years is the extent of human history (as opposed to prehistory).

I'm telling you, we're gonna' find out that they were MISTAKEN... that when humans left Cobol to find Earth, the story got skiewed over time and people started believing that "the 13th colony went in search of Earth" when in actuallity they went in search of the original homeworld.

I'm betting/hoping that humans destroyed Earth, left Earth, found Cobol, destroyed Cobol and left to (a) the 12 Colonies and (b) back to Earth to see if it became livable again.

I could be way wrong. There is even a HUGE possibility that I'll be eating crow this time next year when HOPEFULLY the show is concluded. We'll see.

Starbuck can't be a cylon, or why would they try to impregnate her like the other captured insurgent women?

I agree. Starbuck is NOT a cylon. She's some sort of a messiah to them.

I do not think the show will have a conclusion so soon. Rather, I imagine that if we do ever reach Earth, that it will be the start of a paradigm shift in the show's emphasis.

That is to say, I foresee at least three or so years more of Battlestar, not just one more half-season or less.

Well, it looks more and more like season five is, thankfully, the last. I'm sure they'll find Earth in the last few episodes of the series.

Someone should tell them to visit the Grand Canyon... it's breathtaking.

What's your qualm with Season 5?

The relatively heavy character-development episodes? As opposed to battle ones?

For I myself find the emphasis to be some intriguing stuff. I would like a -bit- more action, but the break from it has allowed a lot of things to develop that wouldn't have otherwise.
