I love the movie Fargo. I love the over-exaggerated Minnesota accents, the scene with the Brainard police officer and Japanese/Chinese dude (wtf-lol), and everything in between. It has clever diaglogue and the filming is excellent.
One of my favs is also Office Space, because it portrays how boring and typical corporate America is. I still laugh my ass off every time I see it.
Come and See its a film about russian teenagers trying to survive during the Nazi invasion of Russia, they get to witness the pile of corpses of their relatives stacked up behind the house they lived in and than while constantly running away hide in mud of swamps and live there until they die of starvation. Very punctual.
I usually answer Cool Hand Luke to these questions. Awesome film, great lead, great music. Great story.
Close Encounters of the Third Kind First movie to get me interested in "Film" as an art form - I owe a lot to it.
Sword of Doom: I do not think any film has ever presented so hauntingly the descent of a man into evil and madness as this. The degeneration was remarkable and the penetrating gaze of the main actor throughout was a profoundly disturbing and incredible effect. Yojimbo: The best of Kurosawa's films. And that is saying a lot, as Kurosawa is one of the greatest directors of all time, and the greatest non-Western bar none. Lost and Delirious: Brilliantly sorrowful unrequitted love. Gone with the Wind: The greatest of "old Hollywood".
I'm withya there, yah. One of my very favorite movies. I play the theme song in my head on the way to work everyday. analbeads?? Hmm.
I'm not ashamed to admit it: I like movies for entertainment, for escapism. The world is full of real life, I don't need to go see it in a movie theater. My top ten: Bedazzled--the original with Peter Cooke and Dudley Moore Being There The Dark Crystal Fantasia A Fish Called Wanda Lord of the Rings Monty Python's The Meaning of Life The Muppet Movie The Wizard of Oz Yellow Submarine
V for Vendetta....one of the better modern movies. Amazing writing and brilliantly acted. Fight Club...anarchy at it's finest. Ocean's Eleven...hopelessly cool.
Shayatz, yet another movie thread I see. Alright here's my list; Heat, Scarface, Shawshank Redemption, The Untouchables, Ong Bak (mainly for the physical spectacles and how it was picked up in the West), Jesus Christ Superstar (hey...its Jesus ya'll, ya can't top that)
well ok in reality my favourite movies are: 1) Solaris (1973) 2) HitchHikersGuideToTheGalaxy both because they are sci-fi, space based, and very imaginative and innovative.
this may be strange, but i super heroe movies. i am just amazed at watching jean grey dirrect a wall of water around her and her friends, while at the same time placing mental blocks on nightcrawler's teleportation abilities, and controling the jet in x-men2. in x-men1 she stops a bulet at an officers head when magneto fires off a gun while at the same time suspending the guns in mid air using a magnetic field. the other super heroes are amazing also, but jean grey, professor x, and some of the other super powerful mutants are unbelievable.
Requiem For A Dream - Brilliantly acted and the series of events in the movie are in perfect sequence. Its one of the only movies I have seen that really made me feel for the characters in the movie even though I knew they were just that. School Ties - A really powerful movie. The "boardroom" scene is something to remember. It shows the struggle between what you know is right and what has become accepted. Brick - A truly original film which is entertaining enough in the midst of all of todays remakes. Deals mostly with kinds in high school but at the same time relates to adults.
