As astounding as this may be, I have to agree with anthony on this one and I happen to like Gore. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Very hypocritical. Using up 20 times the national average? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Is he kidding? What in the hell is he doing to be using up that much? No one is saying he should live in a mud hut or "play Amish", but one has to wonder why and how he is using up so much when he is advising others to use less. And since the movie/doco came out, his energy (electricity) use has gone up, all while he lectures about reducing electricity costs? Maybe he should consider putting up some energy saving bulbs and installing some solar panels so he is not such a drain on the environment.. You know.. do what he is advising others to do. I must admit, I am feeling a tad disappointed and disheartened now. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
That's the thing. It would be expected from Bush because he is.. Bush.. And Bush does not care at all for the environment. But Gore? After the doco and the lectures, I wouldn't have expected it. It diminishes the message he is trying to spread to be honest. People do try to lower their energy usage and I would have expected that he would have as well, but his went up and not by a small amount. Just very hypocritical when you consider the message he is trying to get out there and the amount of money his movie has generated. And it is disappointing.
It is really funny, that is only on of the 7 estates that he owns, so what is his total carbon foot print? and he can live in them only one at a time, but they all have to be ready at any time because he might visit, talk about a energy foot print, it must be the size of a small city.
spuriousmonkey Maybe because of AlGore's HYPOCRISY, live as I say not as I live, massive estates, private jets, big limousines, keep the home fires burning in the winter, and keep the cool breezes blowing with the air conditioning in the summer, how big is AlGores carbon foot print, it would do justice to a whole town. If you look at the numbers AlGore uses 140 times mort energy in housing than the common man, and that don't include his travel, and lodging as he traipses around the world.
You would have to factor in his contribution to awareness of the issue. His work probably resulted in a net decrease in carbon emissions, so I don't begrudge him his mansion.
spidergoat, does he need 7 estates to make a contribution? Does he need to use private jets to travel? does he need all those Suburban's to hall his ass around? Are you making excuses for him? It sure sounds like it to me.
Don't you see, he gets millions of people to cut back, so he can splurge, what a Democrat! As spidergoat says, he is therefore in the plus column, pretty nifty!
Yes, I am making excuses for him. He deserves it. You haven't mentioned wether he has been taking steps to reduce the electricity and natural gas consumption in his houses. $1080 a month for natural gas actually seems quite small, considering that in my own 1500 sq. ft. house I spent $250 last month. You also assume that Gore is the absolute dictator of his house. Perhaps his wife enjoys all that energy consumption, and he can't stop her.
No, he couldn't have been serious. He was just searching his brain trying to figure out some way of defending the damned hypocrite that he just grabbed at anything that seemed somewhat, maybe, hopefully, almost, ...a defense. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Baron Max
He can't stop his own wife, so he tries to stop every-fuckin'-body else in the world?? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Defending Gore is becoming kinda' difficult, ain't it, Spider? Baron Max
