Good point. It actually doesn't matter if global warming is primarily caused by human actions or not. The fact that it is occurring and will have huge negative impacts on humanity is enough to prompt us to take action to try to do something about it.

Oh, it doesn't matter whether or not we are causing global warming? If we're not causing it, how can we stop it? You act as though it will cost nothing to implement things like the kyoto protocol. It would cost billions upon billions and the benefit would be barely measurable.
So billions of dollars wasted, hundreds of thousands put out of work; for what? A 0.19 degree difference in average global temperature.

Yeah, if I had hundreds of billions of dollars to invest, my goal would be to change the average global temperature by 0.19 degrees. What an accomplishment!

Oh, don't get me wrong, mankind is altering the climate.
Global Climate Change is real, and it has the potential to make LIFE extinct.

But the concept of Global Warming is just a hoax to divert attention away from the liability of the oil companies.

    as one report stated
"Which report took 2500 scientists several years to write, yet still raises as many questions about future life on Earth than it answers? "

Now do you think these authors are really genuine?????

I think I am slowly uncovering the motives of pushing poor science in Global Warming.

By placing responsibility on energy production, eg emissions from coal fired power stations.... and oil burning,
the wealthy countries are placing their liability upon the whole world.

The Kyoto protocol is an example of that policy.

When in fact it is the wealthy countries that have flagrantly polluted the world with oil and made very large gains from that irresponsibility.

The poor countries are only bit players, BUT the wealthy countries are placing equal blame upon these bit players and thus shirking their responsibilities.

No wonder carbon dioxide and other emissions are the propaganda flavour of the day.
And of course carbon trading is the new process to absolve responsibility.

These guys are just so obscene.

What is the motivation to cut back the West, but allow China and India to pollute at will?

I wonder who is benefiting from denial.

Global warming may be happening, there may be more heating of the ocean surfaces causing more clouds, some of which have dumped so much snow on D.C. that they postponed the big global warming conference there today.

Who benefitted from denying that "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!"?

Denial is not always about benefitting. In fact, it's usually the other way around.

But remember, even the scientists who proclaim the human-cause of global warming say that if we stop everything right now, it would be at least a 100 years before we would see a change in the trend. A 100 years?!! Do you know how long that is? And that's just to see a change, not to reverse the trend!!

That was just there way of saying it's not human caused, without actually saying so.

Bingo. That's why Kyoto will fail. It's really a global welfare system guised to "save the planet".

As for global warming, it is something I do not worry about. I do believe it is natural, hopefully it does not get hot enough to blow the methane deposits in the frozen bogs of Siberia or the ones under the sea do not blow. Within 2 generations most children around with world will be born with athsma or some environmental health problem, from POLLUTION.

Don't worry about the earth people, she can(and has) survive far more crap than we humans can throw at her. Let's be in "it" for the humans. Let's not save the planet, she's going to be fine, we are NOT going to be fine. Pollutants we breathe and chemicals we eat are poisonous to us. We also need animals, our "science" is not quite that good yet. We need to look out for all the animals that make it possible for us to survive. Infact being as we are at the top of the food chain that means pretty much ALL animals.

Isn't it great how you can blame any bad weather on global warming. Heat wave: Global warming, Blizard: Global Warming; Drought: Global warming, Flood: Global Warming.

Have you ever heard that if something is not falsifiable it's not in the realm of science?

I was being sarcastic at the global warming alarmists.

My apologies then, but I'm sure some nutjob will seriously make the argument you made. This is why they are pushing the term, "global climate change". This way they're covered no matter what happens, unless the climate stays exactly the same.

My point was and is that a warmer atmosphere would heat the ocean surface temps to cause more evaporation for more clouds which would cool the thing back down, a negative feedback mechanism.

Clouds tend to retain heat. Water vapor is one of the most effective of greenhouse gasses.

So it's warmer on a cloudy day?

You notice it more at night. Clouds might diminish the heat of the day somewhat, but clouds at night retain the heat. That's why deserts can get so cold at night.

There is no Sun to shield at night, the Sun heats the atmosphere, the darkness doesn't.

    OMFG, you are so dumb.

The sun heats the ground during the day, even when there are clouds, albeit less so. If there are clouds at night, the ground cools off much more slowly.

100% correct. Cloudy nights are the key to warm weather. When you have a clear, winter night. All of the stored-up heat is radiated out into space, severely cooling things off.

IAC is confusing the fact that cloudy days usually come with low pressure systems, which bring colder weather. So he associates clouds with colder weather, and sunny skies for warmer weather. This is only partly true.

The recipe for warming trends is really a cloudless day and a heavily clouded night. For cooling trends, you want cloudy days, and clear nights.
