    Moderator/Poster: 1 or 2 ID’s?

Should Moderators have one ID for moderating; and another for posting (so they can be added to the ignore list)?

It would be nice for some if you could put a moderator on ignore except in the subforum where he/she moderates.

For the same reasons as wanting to add any other poster to the ignore list.

Because it is illegal to have sockpuppets.

Also there is no clear definition of circumstances in which a report is made against a post where the poster is also the moderator (if this is documented then I would be grateful if the thread link be posted here). It would be great if an independent moderator could explain what usually happens in these circumstances.

In my opinion it would be helpful and assuring for the Mods to have a poster ID and a Mod ID so as to give a clear demarcation between these roles.

i think a better idea would to be to have a moderator the same as an ordinary user in terms of being able to ignore them, with a 'mod hat' override.

ie, if you have a mod on ignore, you can ignore what ever they say, until they need to say something in the vocation of a moderator, in which case a 'mod hat' function or script would override the ignore.

Sounds a perfect solution to me personally - ignore function for posters....easier for the Mods too?

Easy enough to ignore posters you don't care to read.

    Just do it.

Not if they make racist or sexist or hateful or illegal comments; or cut and paste huge amounts of text or images or create voluminous threads, etc.

Personally, I think ignore is a much needed button.

    Yeah.
    Pretty dumb idea.
You're not the first one to think of it either, although your reason is a tad less petty than the reasoning of the prior suggestor.

Personally, I think the ignore list is a sign of weakness.

I think all the mods should be forced to display Obergruppenführer ~ SS Sepp Dietrich's picture as their avatar -

to reflect fanatical devotion sans much meaningful know-how, and beneath it place the caption:
    Destroy, Erase, Improve .

This way all mod actions would appear to emanate froma single source, regardless of which of the over-abundance of them performed any one.

    Sort of...

If the theme was priests, though, I suggest this pic of Vincent Price starring in the film Witchfinder General as the "mod-atar"
