No, they don't. They share features just like the shingles on my roof look like alligator scales. That's the end of the resemblance.

WTF do syngameons have to do with this discussion?

    BM brought up biology.

And by the way, do you acknowledge that gravitational time dilation occurs?

Would it not be possible to believe in a 'creator' and all the tenets of science?

Of course. I'm quite familiar with the effects of both general and special relativity and how to apply them correctly in the specified frame.

    Why do you ask?

    No.

The religion forum is packed with discussions presenting both views on this.

Much of what supelum considers to be science is merely conjecture.

Superlum, one more time, do you believe that gravitational time dilation occurs?

    Ummm... yes?

Why should there be evidence of the collapsed event horizon since it's collapsed?

"collapsing event horizons" is meaningless. It's scientific-sounding jargon for those who don't mind being duped. Sorry, but that's what it is.

Well you see, that's the whole point behind science. You make claims, and you need to support them with evidence. That's why you're religious, and I'm not. You don't need proof for something as fundamental in your life as a supreme being, so why would you need proof for lesser things like physics and such? You see the problem with this?

I explained what it is, right in line with Einstein's theory of general relativity.

Universe with edge and center, expanded out, event horizon necessitated 'til enough matter had expanded past it, Einsteins' theory of general relativity comports with such.

Oh wow a pissing contest. Please count me in.

Let the whole board know: IceAgeCivilizations has chosen some arbitrary esoteric term that I don't know. I have been publicly humiliated in the worst way and in the most public of forums. I don't know how I can ever regain the respect of those reading the board. I can only hope that some day, when I have read some words that I don't understand on the internet, and have developed a theory that is as incongruent as it is ridiculous, I can be as good a role model as IceAgeCivilizations has been to all of us.

No not at all, just as long as you don't rely on Him to solve your problems.

Anyway, hopefully IAC will answer this question:

My point is this: Science accounts for the mechanisms of the known universe without recourse to a 'creator' - but at another level of explanation one can believe in science and a 'creator'.
For example: science accounts for biological evolution, the origin of life, the formation of planets and solar systems right back to the Big Bang -but beyond the explanations that science can provide lies room for speculation...science has yet to disprove the notion that we and the universe are designed or engineered.
So one could accept scientific accounts up to and including BBT, and also believe that space people called Moomins created the BB to 'seed' the universe.
I don't personally subscribe to creator myths but other scientists do.

This is a matter of perspective, and for what it is worth, it is up to the Creationists/Intelligent Designers to prove that we were designed. The human form's simple perfection, some claim, is evidence for a Designer. However, people think this way because the cannot think of any more well-designed thing in the natural world. DOes this make sense? It is egotism, in a sense---we are the pennacle of Creation, so there can be nothing more well-designed than man.

The problem with this is that God is forced into gaps in scientific understanding. I personally have a hard time accepting such a God, and the implications for faith. For example, I have heard people say "I prayed to Jesus and he healed my cancer." Well what happens when science can explain why a person's cancer was "miraculously healed"? Are we to tell that person---it wasn't Jesus, it was a bunch of enzymes that happened to exist in higher concentrations in your body? What does that do to faith?

I think the only question that will be left unanswered by science is why the big bang occured in the first place, or some single, similar fundamental quesiton. God must be completely separate from this universe so that he doesn't interfere with the laws of physics, etc. In other words, if there is a God, I have a hard time believing that he is the "personal God" of the Christian tradition, because, among other things, that violates causality

I could go on, but I'm sure that others would be bored by this.
