Its almost predictive. It was written in 1993 and subsequent events seem to support the premise of the author.

He should also have made a distinction between 'American' and 'European'.

I found large parts of latin america more similar to Europe than to the US. And there is the big clash between European and American culture.

Perhaps but both the Americans and European countries are clashing with the Chinese and Muslims to a greater extent than with each other.

What is the European position on Latin American countries? Doesn't Europe support the US position?

Maybe in 1993 the differences between Europe and America were not that distinctive.

What exactly is the US's position. All I know of South America is that it's full of emerging countries that are slowly trying to get a hand on their own running. They still have very torrent governments in the sense that the one in power today could be under the threat of a coup tomorrow. I know of europeans that are attempting to deal with some of the disparsities between rich and poor. What they have been trying to embark upon is getting the governments of some of those countries to actually start building the houses for the poor rather than having shanty towns errected and even looking at trying to explain why a social wealthfare system can lower crime, disease and discontent.

(Of course these are all things that some of us take for granted in our "Western Cultures", we can't actually force these things on people as it turns them against us, however educating them to make those steps themselves is obviously the intension.)

Of course we do realize that the same is done here in the US, right? On farms and in rural areas.

No! Never! That would be horribly disgusting. We in the west have cow-patty-making machines. Very advanced. We're the west, remember?

hmm, yes, thats right, before racism was even thought of, people were discriminated against because of their religion.

it wasn't, "lets kill the black guy"

it was "lets kill that muslim"

ps. those are examples, not orders.

Plato's Chain of Being ruled the day in Europe, where non Euros (non "Caucasians") were categorized as subhuman.

No, the white race never existed until it was invented in the US not too long ago. What you had was a subdivision of what you would call white race into a myriad of different races some of which were rather close to negro, some were the supreme form of the human species. Hitler never talked about the white race. The polish on one border were inferior to the Dutch or Danes on the other borders with Germany as a race. No white race. No unity.
Scientists used to make the distinction between different populations in Europe.

The white race is a very recent invention. I'm not sure where it comes from, but probably it originates from the US where the 'white' mixed population had to distinguish themselves from 'blacks' and 'hispanics'.

Of course now we know it is all bulshit. Race is not a viable subdivision of the human species from a biological perspective. The political desire/pressure to do so has lifted.

    Very, very true.
People used to be far more discerning about race. Now it's way more simplistic. Black vs. white. "White." What a fabrication.
