Well, society is doing something about ....we keep making laws and rules against racism and do nothing but drive in underground and out of sight ..even while it's still a pervasive part of our very nature. I.e., society is making liars out of all of it's members!

Capitalism killed communism, because there are more people who want to compete than who want to cooperate.

Also, you have to admit, greed is the best way to motivate the kinds of people who take what they want. So for example, those who are involved in organized crime, they can't function as well under communism because no matter what they do it wont change their position in life, but under capitalism, you can sell drugs, sell guns, or just sell anything you can think of, legal or illegal, and improve your quality of life doing it.

Capitalism works so well because you can profit off other peoples misery, you can sell stuff like cigarettes. You can create fast food and sell that regardless of how it's made or whats in it. Capitalism works because there are more people who don't give a fuck, and who want to make a buck, than people who want to sacrifice for the motherland, or fatherland etc.

If we ever decide to invent capitalism 2.0, it would hopefully combine both traits, but for now we have ruthless capitalism as the standard.

There is much we can do about human nature and there is much we can do about racism. First we have to accept humans for what they are, and thats animals. Humans are animals, period.

Second, we have to educate people to the final conclusion of racism, it's fucking irrational and self defeating! It's one thing to be proud of your race, to have family pride, or tribal pride, I respect that. It's something completely different to hate entire groups of people, and hiding behind your race to do it.

So the conclusion is, while it's human nature for people to be xenophobic, it's not natural to hate. No other species hates itself in this way, it's also fucking irrational. You can do the calculation with numbers and see that the numbers just don't add up, in fact the end result will be unlimited subtractions.

Racism subtracts quality of life for humans.
Racism subtracts quatity of life for humans.
    Racism increases misery for humans.
    Racism increases guilt for humans.
Racism, actually reduces racial pride for humans.

How can you, as a human, feel good about your race, or the concept of races, if by design that concept, is based around hating all the other races?

Some of us just are not haters, and are never going to feel that way about other races. So in the end, racism is not really good for the species, tribal pride is good in some cases, but only if humanity is put first before tribe, only when species comes before tribe can it be good. When all of humanities tribes combine their efforts to solve humanities problems, then we will have a better world, but if we keep fighting each other, we won't even be able to survive as a species and we won't have a chance to create a better world because it will take all our combined efforts.

If I'm not mistaken, I don't think he ever said that we're slaves to our instincts. I don't why you're suggesting he did. He simply said that racism is part of who we are. We are naturally predisposed to be racist. That does not mean we can't resist those instincts. Do you understand?

It's possible to be naturally predisposed to certain behaviors, while being versatile enough to go against those predispositions. Is that complicated to get? Saying that because someone else implies that people are naturally predisposed to some behaviors means that he is saying that people are slaves to their instincts is a non-sequitur. Did that make sense at all?

Do you think it's unlikely that humans are predisposed to racism?

I think it's the irony. Big Brother made her and now it's broke her. The nation enjoyed (?) her ignorance and naievety, but now she's shown herself to be a bitchy fuckwit. The two don't go hand in hand.

Some shops are taking her beauty products off their shelves.

The interesting thing is that endemol (the company that produce BB/CBB) are trying to launch a chat show with Jade as the host, so they want to make her look as best she can so they don't lose money.

I don't know that it was racist, but it was pretty fucking nasty they way the other girls treated her. Some of the things they said were very generalised and you just wouldn't say that in public. Behind closed doors, as people have touched on in this thread, is understandable - it will happen, but you just don't get yourself into that situation in public (live tv).

I'd like to see Jade and her fucking idiot of a boyfriend (he didn't know what an embryo was) shot.

Shilpa seems intelligent. The other girls there clearly lack intelligence.
Shilpa is pretty. The other girls aren't.
Shilpa has some class. The others don't.

Jealousy and difference - bitchiness with shitty comments thrown in.

That's the thing though, racism is usually something that is hidden from view. Reason being that when it does raise its head, it is usually 'slapped down like a red headed step child'. It is the skeleton in the closet that must never be released. And when it does, we are all so embarrassed that instead of dealing with the cause, we prefer to just make it illegal and attempt to hide it back in the closet again.

However from what I've seen on the news regarding this story, it was not just about a few racist comments. Personally I couldn't really find anything racist about it. What it did show was a few people, completely lacking in any intelligence, attacking another who they perceived as a threat because she appeared not only intelligent, but also quite attractive compared to themselves.

People cried racism because the person who was on the receiving end was Indian.

From what I saw on the news, it was basically a bunch of trailer trash people (who are apparently celebrities in the UK) showing how stupid and trashy they really are when confronted by someone who was more attractive and more intelligent then they are. The show appeals to the lowest denominator in society, proven by the fact that the girl who is seen to have been the worst of the lot was a previous winner of the show (I think? It is what was reported in the news). That she might somehow represent the ideals and beliefs of those who watch the show and who might have voted for her in the past was repulsive to many. Cries of "I'm not racist" always abound, even when there really was no racism. But just the hint and the embarrassment that their own beliefs could be so ugly.. so they voted her off. Maybe the girl in question (whatever her name is) was racist when confronted by someone she perceived as being her better and Indian so she lashed out. But in the end it has won the show more viewers and the actress more support and it has also shown just how petty some people actually are.

Racism is not part of who "we" are, it's part of WHAT we are. We are animals.

Humans are predisposed to self hatred and self loathing, with racism being an expression of this natural instinct.

I don't understand why racists are so cowardly about their racism sometimes. Why not say it on TV? I want to see more racism on TV, I want to see more of this stuff. I don't want censoring of racism because if you censor it, you make society MORE racist.

Look at how racist society is now, let's look at the white population of America for an example. About
40% or so, give or take, of the white population are racist. This does not seem like a lot of people, but 80% of the country give or take, is white, this means there are more white racists in this country, than there are minorities to be racist against.

This should tell you something, because while it's not a situation where minorities will be harassed 24/7 by the klan, that sort of racism is gone, the sort of undercover racism still exists because that sort of thinking exists.

So while you have neo-nazi's, who are racist and proud, and shave their head etc. This sort of racist is becoming less and less popular. Now the new sort of racist, will try hard not to say anything racist in public, and not look racist in public, but in private will act, think, and talk racist. This is why for example, there will not be a black President, it's not because people won't all claim they will vote for one, no one wants to appear racist in public, but when it's time to act, thats usually when people discover they really are racist.

It's almost as if, racists today don't even believe they are racist until the moment when it's time to act, or make a decision, and only then do they realize that they don't really want change and are racist. So, I think a lot of people are racist but cannot accept it themselves. We saw Kramer, say racist stuff and then go on TV and be unable to admit to himself that hes a racist. This is the sorta racist we have today.

I prefer people who admit it and are like "Yes, I AM a racist, and here are my reasons why.", because a person like this, who can admit who they are, you can see they have integrity, you can respect them, and accept them for who they are. But if someone does not even know who they are, what exactly can you do? You can't really be friends with a person who does not know or accept themselves.

So, let's ask people, how many here are willing to admit that they are racist? Even if it's just alittle bit racist, how many people are willing to be brave and say it? What happened to the proud racists?

When you say "predisposed" what exactly do you mean?

What do you think of the fact that comedy shows about immigrant communities are frequently self-mocking?

I don't think the Gandhi video has anything to do with it.

Anyway, Gandhi would have laughed at that video. He had a sense of humor.

British Big Brother is much more racy and wilder than the bland Barbies & Ken's version the US has. No Way would CBS air a British style Big Brother on their network. The Jesus freaks would shut them down in no time.

No, we don't need racism. If you get people and especially famous people spouting off that they're racist that would surely send the wrong message.

I believe that most people are racist to a certain degree, but that doesn't make it right, and we certainly shouldn't promote it. Racism is borne out of ignorance, fear and prejudice of something that is perceived as strange, different or new and which is usually promoted as a threat by certain media and religions.

Debate racism, by all means, but do not attempt to trumpet its virtues because there are none.

Wrong? Ain't that kinda' subjective? I mean, to the racists, it ain't the "wrong" message at all. And don't we have a "freedom to spout off" in this great nation anymore?

There's that subjective "right/wrong" thing again. To a racist, it's the right thing. You need to be more understanding and accepting of different people and their beliefs.

That statement just tells me that you've bought into the opposition's propaganda. And why do you think that it's okay to denigrate the beliefs of other people? On one hand, ye're sayin' things about "right n' wrong", but on the other hand, ye're doin' exactly what you say that racists are doin' is wrong.

Perhaps there are no "virtues" in racism for you, but that doesn't mean there isn't for others. Ye're not being very understanding of others, are you? How do you think the racists feel when you constantly denigrate their beliefs?

I think you should examine your own beliefs and thoughts a bit more carefully. You should also be a bit more careful in using the terms "right n' wrong" because those are strictly subjective and personal.

Yes it is subjective. Modern society does not condone racism and I am a modern citizen. I don't care that my attitude does not please the racist.

I accept people at face value and believe in freedom of choice, but I don't need to see neo-nazis and other racists expounding on their pet hates every night on TV, the same way I don't want to see someone telling me how wonderful crack and meths are, or how sublime SM sex could be for teenagers.

I haven't bought into anyone's propaganda, but if I had, it wouldn't be My opposition, yours certainly but not mine. My statement means exactly what it says and it's the way I perceive the phenomenon.

I don't subscribe to the view that it's a genetic mechanism; if it is, it's a throwback and should be thrown away. I don't think that foreigners are necessarily bad for an established community, I do in fact think that foreigners can enhance a community. I do in fact think that all humans should have the right to choose where to work and live and I don't believe in the 'closed shop' mentality.

    Like, I give a fuck?

Well, I can say the same thing to you. What's right and wrong to me, is exactly that and forms the basis of my opinions that I have laid bare. What you perceive to be right or wrong digresses from my view, but you are free to disagree.

Not quite. The basic instinct for all humans is to survive and to procreate - everything humanity is is about furthering that agenda. Intelligence evolved because the ability to reason helped mankind survive.

Evolution does not think, it does not reason, and it has no final agenda. It is a force. There is no right or wrong in it.

Mankind is a very successful organism. But then so is the shark, and the cockroach.
