I was a representative of the host nation. It doesn't matter what crimes we might believe one or another of the guests has comitted. As long as they are welcomed guests it is my duty to be at their service and to protect them from any harm any outside force might pose.
And it was my diplomatic duty to ensure that the interests of my state are met according to my competence.
Any personal dislikes, if one has such, must not be show even as a shadow of a gesture or face expression - that's a part of the diplomatic protocol.
