It's pissed me off for a long time. Can we make Sciforums hyperlinks blue please? Like, um, every other goddamn link on the interweb. I'm sick of adding colour coding to achieve it in my posts, and the current black colour is too similar to normal, underlined text (hold your mouse over the words 'black' and 'underlined' to see the difference). A poll is attached to see who's with me. I've added an extra option, which will make link colouring a profile option (don't know if this is feasible, or how much work it would involve). There is an aesthetic issue in that blue links would radically change the appearance of the forum indexes (the thread lists), which are virtually nothing but links. Personally, I could live with this. Maybe the new setting could be applied to posts only (which would be the ideal scenario but, again, I don't know if this is feasible)? That is all. Vote blue and discuss. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edit: I've been thinking (always dangerous, I know). The change doesn't necessarily have to be to blue. Like invert and others I also find the minimalist theme pleasing to the eye but I would still like to see the links changed to a more distinctive color. So how about: Navy? Or Dark Slate Gray? I'd actually prefer either of these to the bright blue above. Other people might have other preferences, so let's just say that: A vote for blue from this point on is a vote for a change away from the present black colour, with the new colour to be decided upon at a later date. If you have an alternative colour in mind make your preference known in the thread. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Thankyou Oniw. You know it makes sense. invert_nexus and other creatures of the night: please note that goths are banned from voting. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I thought the hyperlink function was gone? I mean when you used to be able to write a word (like here) and associate it with a link. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Clearly not. Thankyou for siding with reason. You know it makes sense. PS Love the new avatar. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
If you click 'Go advanced' it should be there. Otherwise you have to type: (URL=http://www.MyLink.com)My Link(/URL) Replace the round brackets with square ones. The web address goes after the 'URL=' bit and the replacement text goes in between the two tags, as you can see. To add colour you currently have to use the format: (url=LINK)(color=blue)LINK TEXT(/color)(/url) .. but again with square brackets instead of round, and replacing 'blue' with your chosen colour if you don't want the link to be blue. Messy, isn't it?
I've always liked the black color. It's part of the minimalistic theme. No colors everywhere. I've never had a problem finding links. Very few people use the underline function.
I've considered underlining things on numerous occasions. On every occasion I decided against it. Have you considered why that might be?
Grrrr, damn you to atheist hell, spuriousmonkey!!!!!!!! The weird thing is I knew what you were up to! But I had to check.
