Playstation 3 rage...

Playstation 3 will be available for sale in 13 hours...there are like hour updates on the situation around playstation release. people lining up to buy the thing...supposevly offers awsome graphics...
So the question is: is it really worth the 500$?

If people are willing to buy it, then it's worth the price.

 

Thats about 350 quid yeah, thats about what we usually pay here for a newly released console, I dont use then myself, I have sex.

 

i've heard that it will be around 450 quid

 

Why not just get a killer graphics card for half the price.

I don't think it's worth that. The japs pay $270 for the good one. The US pay $500 and I think in the UK we'll be paying £450/500.

Why such a difference in price? Oh, because sony are cunts.
That's why they've got rid of lik-sang and scared off other importers, so they can rape Europeans for every last penny.

I won't be buying one 'til some point next year when the price has dropped substantially.

 

And I forgot, Japan had their release first, US shortly after and Europeans need to wait 'til March - WTF ?

Price discrimination. Basically it's pricing based on the demand in of certain groups and how much money they have.

For example: business people pay differently for airline tickets than do regular people.

In Japan I guess (but don't know) that they have a smaller demand and a little bit less money. Plus, a Japanese model PS3 won't work on US games (unless you hack it). So resale across borders is impossible.

I am very much not a gamer. But I do agree that $500 is a very high price. But at least you aren't paying £500.

 

If you'll buy the Xbox360, you'll buy the PS3. It's worth it.

 

I can't believe the lines for that thing. Some stores have 100-400 people! Only like 15-25 people are gonna be able to get one at Best Buy and worse elsewhere. Gamestop will be like 5-10 due to the massive shortages of it. Good luck getting one in the next few months. Most people getting it are doing it for resale anyways. Heh, the Yakuza bought around 5 or 6,000 of them for resale at the Japan launch. Poor Chinese immigrants were paid to wait in line to get em, lol.

Well think of it this way; if blue ray cathes on then you have an inexpensive blue ray dvd player with a game system.

 

Blu ray is definitely going to catch on, I say.

As a PC person, I'd take that money and upgrade my PC, you can do alot with $500.

As one who got burned when he bought into Dreamcast, I'd be very suspicious of how PS3 will turn out.

 

It's worth the price........I can't afford it, but it's certainly worth the price.
