Read it, James, and it's just more psycho-babble crap to make excuses for the plight of the blacks in Africa. Excuses, excuses, excuses .....a whole fuckin' book of 'em! Jared Diamond is just one person, with one person's opinion, nothing more, nothing less.

I could probably site hundreds of books that "prove" that the African blacks are .....well, probably anything I wanted to find. Don't prove shit, James. What does prove shit, is that Africa is in the fuckin' mess it's in and it seems destined to remain that way for thousands of more years.

I hope you'll excuse me for saying so, but fuck 'em! I'm tired of hearing about the plight of the African blacks!

Baron, so you can hate every race equally, but you can't love every race equally? This hate you feel, it's an emotion, and not everyone feels it.

Let's talk about the plight of white women?
Eating disorders are gaining popularity among white women, if you love white women, you should care enough to know that they are suffering trying to be thin just as much as blacks in Africa are suffering trying to gain weight, it's suffering, it's the same feeling no matter which body feels it. Many women each year starve themselves to death, do you feel no shame? No remorse?

I'm sick of non-Africans trying to act like they know everything about africa (watch the movie Hotel Rwanda). Most have no clue.
What is high IQ and low IQ anyway?
what is the basis and how do they draw the conclusion that blacks have low IQ genetically.
I bet if Africans made the IQ tests, Europeans will fail miserably.

    .

point blank take a black person and a white person put them in a world filled with tools for them to succeed and learn, they will whether they're black or white.
the principal of my high school is a black woman and my school is the most performing in my state.

lmao at this comment. disturbing but true.
God knows i have a hard time gaining weight myself (maybe 'cause i'm African) but see people punishing themselves to look skinny. lol it's so ironic.

It isn't even primarily about black people in Africa. Obviously, you didn't understand the point.

Yes, and so are you. Only Diamond has qualifications which make him much more plausible and informed than you, with your narrow-minded, uneducated bigotry.

There are strong arguments and weak arguments and non-arguments. Being uneducated, you probably can't tell the difference.

But you're just one opinion, and one opinion is worth nothing, according to your own argument. I don't know why you bother.

Then turn off your computer and read a copy of Gun Owners' monthly, or whatever it is that you care about, instead.

thousand more years is probably an underestimation. certain countries in Africa are "developing" and once they're developed (i can't tell the number of years it'll take) they'll affect the rest of the continent's situation.

who knows, you might be right, maybe in a thousand years from now, the european and american and maybe asian (i hear about korea) would have destroyed each other with missles and atomic bombs and Africa will rise as a giant once more. but this time Africa would have learnt her lesson and wouldn't allow for exploitation.
Yeah the reason Africa is poor in most areas is partly due to exploitation. At least Africa wasn't having problems until the europeans arrived.
the US is currently exploiting the oil rich countries (as you and i know, the war in Iraq is not because of some terrorists)

these won't happen over night mind you and it's just my speculation

up there with us whites? do you really consider murder of the innocent by the bushel and environmental destruction "up there"?
although i have alot of stuff it's really hard to say which culture is the best in the long run.

What did Europe look like a thousand years ago? A typical peasant farmer probably had a quality of life comparable to a member of any African tribe.

    How adorable.

No, diamond can come to me and get educated about the fundamentals of agriculture and it's origins. He certainly has alot to learn.
It turns out white guilt doesn't make someone an expert on all subjects, or any subject for that matter.

There's nothing to say those attempts wouldn't have failed with the bearded auroch or wild boar of eastern europe which were domesticated thousands of years ago.
It doesn't prove anything if some people have failed to domesticate zebras, there's ultimately no legitimate reason why it couldn't be done.
All of the "hurdles" addressed apply to every animal which was domesticated.
A bit more time and effort was put into it, thats all.
You can't cut corners, that's why they failed to domesticate zebras. It's got nothing to do with the zebras and other african ungulates being "undomesticatable".
Ugh, that's so dumb it makes me physically sick.

was that sarcasm? if it was, you know you're mad and would hate to see an African country develop.

    tant pis pour toi though.

it is adorable though. everything's a process. happens little by little. no country becomes a world power overnight.

Why domesticate a Zebra at all? There was no shortage of meat in Africa and there was no need to plow fields of wheat with a domestic animal. I have heard that some Russians bred a domesticated breed of fox by crossing the least fearful foxes, but I don't think any human ever decided to domesticate a species. It was more a gradual process of natural selection.

It's just adorable how litterally you interpret the term "developing country".
You do realise it's a new age polite way of saying 3rd world country? Not many developing countries are actually "on the way up" in real life.

Good point. Why didn't you just say that begin with?

    Edit -
    Also correct.
See I don't mind genuine explanations. I just don't like false arguments based on lies.

i didn't say many were. I said some were.
my bad. i meant to say "developing third world country".

have you been to an african country to know? I have.
Ghana is developing. Their govt. is now stable.

there are some countries that can never have stable govts though because the colonist british patched them together so bad

so that a country has over 50 languages, more than 3 religions several different ethnicities e.t.c all fighting for rights, ethnic clashes, wars e.t.c
tell me what kind of a country like that won't have bad gov.t. , be underdeveloped.
That's just little compared to the rest of what they did to mess up the continent.

it's better the way it was before with the tribe system.

    Lou Natic:

He is an internationally renowned author and academic. And you are... what, exactly?

You do make yourself look stupid when you try to one-up somebody who has achieved more than you are ever likely to.

    Non sequitur.

    Another non sequitur.

On the contrary, there are very good reasons why it has not been done. I guess you skipped that part of the book you say you read.

    No. Wrong again.

Well, let's say undomesticatable within a 100000 year period, then. Will you agree to that? Because that's how long Homo sapiens have had to try domesticating zebras, and nobody has succeeded yet.

Maybe you can do it - in your superior imagination.

Wrong again. All so-called "3rd world" countries are on the way up.

Many African countries are on the way up but some people don't want to believe that because they take pleasure in the thinking that someone on another side of the planet is living worse off than them.
And that's where media comes into play. they only show you what they know you'd like to see. that why they're called "entertainers"

A lightbulb-headed emaciated child with flies in its disgusting yellowed eyes is the last thing I want to see on my TV when I'm stuffing my face with pizza.

I am sick of the media telling me I have to give money to africa.

That is most definitely not what I want to see.

The problem isn't so much as food supply, but food distribution. It's mostly the corrupt warlords in the regions that grab all the food and hoard it, preventing the masses from getting vital nutrition. It is this malnutrition that leads to low mental stimulation.
What needs to change is the leadership, not the population. Color has nothing to do with it, it's just human nature to be greedy and cruel. However, recently, Africa has begun to witness a new generation of leaders. Hopefully, within 20 years, the situation will change drmatically for the better.
