i am a new subscriber to this forum,i don't remember how i even found your web page, and i have some questions: 1. what is a "mod". 2. how do you contact them 3. why do you have to subscribe to a thread. 4. is this forum a product of stanford university. p.s. i started this thread so newbies and people that are "just looking" can get their questions answered.
1. a moderator (mod) is, basically, someone who watches over a certain section and makes sure people follow the rules. 2. you can use the PM function to contact them, but I am not sure they will respond quickly. 3. you can subscribe to a thread if you want to keep track of it, but its up to you. I don't subscribe to threads. 4. no, it is based in Australia last I checked, and, to my knowledge, has no connection with Stanford (why do you ask?). I am sure others can give better explanations, but that can start things out.
cato's response#4 why do you ask? i read discussion about folding at home and it gave a website, when i clicked on it it took me to stanford. i also downloaded some software and saved some webpages from that site. now i'm folding my own.
how do you get peoples replies into your responses? what is a tag? how do i get web links into my reply? what is cross posting?
nightfall: that is one sexy picture. hura supposed to be protein molecules but am probably helping them to take over the world. as far as the help button goes, yeah i clicked on it but the url business was a little tricky to find, was under the vbcode stuff. what's with all the ads on the left?
You get people's quotes into your reply by clicking the reply button in the post you want to take the quote from, like I did with yours. Right click with your mouse over the URL (Internet) address you want to send as a link--it will highlight in blue and a new box will open up, left click on copy, then, when you are writing your new post or reply, left click EDIT and click Paste and the address will appear in your message. You may also edit a quote by deleting phrases or words you don't want, as I did with your last question, but I think cross posting means sending the same post to different threads.
