    I don't do a whole lot of markup, so someone can fill in the details or correct the part that I get wrong, but I recall a notion of "font families". If, for some reason, your laptop has trouble figuring out what Georgia (Sciforums default) is, it will revert to Times New Roman, which, whenever I came across font families, was usually bundled with Georgia and other classic-looking serif fonts. Check the fonts available on the laptop and for the browser.

    That's the first thing that comes to mind, but like I said, I do very little markup, and it's somewhere in markup that I come across these font assignations.

    Mentioned a number of times in the forums CSS entries is the following:
    Code:
    font: lucida, 'lucida grande', verdana, geneva, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;

    You shouldn't be getting Times New Romans, However probably Arial, Sans-Serif or Verdana. However all Browsers should have a setting to define what default font you want to use which will more than likely override the CSS entry.

    In Firefox, go to Tools then Options.. select the Content Icon.

    Look for the Font & Colors dialogue box and you can change the 'Default' to whatever, or you can mess with the Advanced settings to decide if websites should make their own decisions in regards to which font they want to use or just use your default.

    In Internet Explorer:
    Go to Tools, Internet Options, on the General tab at the very bottom you'll find Fonts for the default fonts.

    If you want to ignore the website assigned fonts then make sure you click the Accessibility button where it will allow you to choose to ignore using the websites default.
