View Full Version : font selection
hi
just wanted to say that i like the old font better than this new one, the serifs make the text look jumbled.
if possible return the font back to a sans-serif, like the one u see when u are composing your message, not like the one that comes out in the final post- it looks a bit yucky.
just my 2 cents
ps- i like how the forums are now! good job guys
Ozymandias 03-31-04, 08:53 PM I like MS Serif the most, myself.
curioucity 03-31-04, 10:01 PM umm, when you're composing your message, it's Arial.....
I personally prefer serifs. While sans-serif is good, in my opinion, for signs, handbills, and short lists, I prefer serifs when reading paragraphs, chapters, articles, books, &c. Like with a printed page--5% coverage is 5% coverage; beyond that, distribution is everything. I prefer the distribution of light and dark in serif fonts.
Dr Lou Natic 04-01-04, 03:24 AM The one it is now sucks, unless it JUST changed in the last 3 minutes
Dr Lou Natic 04-01-04, 03:25 AM Nope, same one, it sucks
goofyfish 04-01-04, 05:59 AM Using the same monitor and running SciForums on a PC and a Mac, there is a definate difference in appearance. With the Mac (system of choice for Porf) and its display options, the font is easy on the eye. On the PC it is quite stark and a bit jagged in appearance. I can understand the complaint.
:m: Peace.
And what of this? Someone said it was too small, which is a strange notion to me.
Porfiry 04-01-04, 07:00 AM I just looked at sciforums on a PC and, despite some horrendous misrendering bugs - basically most of the site doesn't look the way it's supposed to - the font looked totally fine to me.
IE blows chunks. Microsoft should be indicted for crimes against humanity.
Microsoft should be indicted for crimes against humanity.Without Microsoft, the world ... oh.
Silly me.
Mystech 04-01-04, 03:18 PM The text looks fine on the three PCs that I ususaly visit the site from. Large bodys of text like in a newspaper or articles and the like ares upposed to be serif, only headers should be sanserif. I have no idea what all of this harsh or jaggy talk is all about, increase your resolutions!
Hmmm, we have one mac sitting in the corner of the computer commons. . . no on is ever on it (why would they be?) let me go see how the site looks on that.
**edit**
Hmm, stupid thing, it's not on the regular network, and someone's logged out of it, and I don't have a login for it (nor do I know anyone who has). Oh well it was a disturbing experience just sitting infront of it anyhow, made me feel gayer. I don't like that whole mouse carraige thing being the mouse button. . . just unnerving, and I'd have missed my mouse wheel too much.
