I do not really listen to music that is based around soloing on any instrument. Just not my thing. sargentlard 05-01-06, 12:43 AM Led zeppelin - whole lotta love Incubus - sick, sad little world Jimi hendrix - foxy lady Audioslave - doesn't remind me. glaucon 05-02-06, 12:52 AM Eruption - Eddie Van Halen 'nuff said. shaman_ 05-02-06, 09:46 AM Tempted to say something by Dimebag Darrell, Slash, Page or Clapton but I'm gonna go with .. Dinosaur Jr - Get me. It gets in my head. thedevilsreject 05-02-06, 03:22 PM so shaman whats your favourite pantera solo goofyfish 05-02-06, 03:25 PM David Gilmour - Comfortably Numb: sheer poetry. shaman_ 05-02-06, 11:39 PM I forgot about - Little Wing, the Hendrix or Stevie Ray Vaughan versions. so shaman whats your favourite pantera solo Thats tough. I like the one from This Love for the way it suits the dark mood of the song. Or maybe one of the earlier ones like Cemetary Gates or Cowboys from Hell. hmm. What's yours? thedevilsreject 05-03-06, 01:44 AM throes of rejection from the far beyond driven album Fraggle Rocker 05-03-06, 06:35 PM Almost any of Joe Satriani's early work. makeshift 05-03-06, 10:10 PM Dancing through Sunday -- AFI. That guitar solo shreds my asshole in two, in three dimensions, mind you. Other than that, I like the Mike Einziger's bridge for the song, Priceless, from A Crow Left of the Murder. The rest of the song kind of sucks. But the bridge and the guitar solo kick serious ass. Try it out. sargentlard 05-03-06, 10:20 PM Other than that, I like the Mike Einziger's bridge for the song, Priceless, from A Crow Left of the Murder. The rest of the song kind of sucks. But the bridge and the guitar solo kick serious ass. Try it out. Oh yeah, kick ass piece of guitar work there. I love the bridge and his usage of rake technique. mikey 06-23-06, 08:06 PM tornado of souls by marty friedman (megadeth) invert_nexus 06-23-06, 08:13 PM Favorite? None. Too many. One of my favorites is Led Zeppelin's Since I've Been Loving You. Specifically the version featured on The Song Remains the same. Very nice. Lately, I've really been getting a lot of enjoyment listening to the 3 minute guitar solo in Zappa's The Muffin Man. Zappa was a mean mother on the guitar. Clean. So fucking clean. I wish I have a more of a history with him. I've downloaded his discography and have found several gems, but there's too much... chaff to sort through. Fucking genius though. Bebelina 06-24-06, 02:06 PM Guitarsolos are a nuisance, they can ruin a prefectly good song just like that. tablariddim 06-24-06, 03:49 PM One of my fave's has to be Hendrix 'All along the watchrower' Fraggle Rocker 06-24-06, 04:01 PM "Ain't That Nothin' " or "Elevation" by Television. Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd were just insane. Just about anything by those two. ArpusDogma 06-24-06, 05:24 PM Does playing the guiter with a violin bow live while dazed and confused @ Madison Sqaure Garden count for Zeppelin? Jamn' certified psycho 06-24-06, 06:32 PM Stairway to Heaven...come on people!!! Other then that Freebird, Don't Tread on Me, Achilles Last Stand and The Rover. thedevilsreject 06-26-06, 03:20 AM i agree with mikey with tornado of souls, its a lot more intricate than it would first appear to be fadeaway humper 07-03-06, 11:04 PM Ritchie Blackmore - Highway Star, Child in Time David Gilmour - Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Time Arquibus 07-17-06, 01:15 AM Child In Time by Deep Purple has an awesome guitar solo. The one at the end of Sultans of Swing by the Dire Straits is also cool. Vega 07-18-06, 06:37 AM Eruption - Van Halen thedevilsreject 07-18-06, 08:51 AM angel of death-slayer Touchwood 07-18-06, 01:15 PM Check out Larry Carlton's intro solo on Don't Take Me Alive, Steely Dan. Oh joy :) Also Buck Dharma's plaintive solo on the Last Days of May, from Blue Oyster Cult's live On Your Feet Or On Your Knees album. Blue_UK 07-18-06, 07:04 PM Dragonforce have many, many good solos if you are into pretty hyperactive and glorious stuff. Check out this mp3 3/4 way in. (Sound + Video... Mp3... My Spirit will go on) (http://www.dragonforce.com/main.html) DJ Erock 07-20-06, 03:38 PM Band of Gypsies (Jimi) with 'Who Knows' Alabama with 'Free Bird' Simon and Garfunkel with 'Me & Julio Down by the Schoolyard' (more of a whilstle/guitar) And of course, the intro to Metallica's 'Enter Sandman.' The last one is extremely near and dear to my heart, as it is played for the intro at Virginia Tech football games. See here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5h1EW5z1wdc&search=virginia%20tech) for a small taste. Watching that video still gives me chills, its absolutely amazing to be in that environment, you're yelling at the top of your lungs, but you still can't here your self over everyone else. There's nothing like it, and I don't think you could ever really understand unless you've been there for it. thedevilsreject 07-21-06, 09:34 AM tender surrender by steve vai has a bit of everything Neildo 07-21-06, 08:49 PM Alvin Lee's (with George Harrison on slide) The Bluest Blues. It teh pwns all guitar solos. Love the emotion. Help Me is another good one, although all of his stuff is awesome, heh. - N certified psycho 07-21-06, 09:18 PM Zakk Wylde's version of Stairway. thedevilsreject 07-22-06, 04:11 AM Zakk Wylde's version of Stairway. *spits in disgust* Fraggle Rocker 07-23-06, 02:13 PM Okay, it's time to say this. Take into account the level to which rock and roll had so far evolved, the state of the art in rock and roll guitar solos, and imagine what this sounded like at the time: Johnny B. Goode by Chuck Berry. Neildo 07-23-06, 03:17 PM Mmm, Chuck Berry, the TRUE "King of Rock 'n Roll" -- we salute you! - N Tyler 07-26-06, 12:47 AM Zappa - Inca Roads Trey of Phish - David Bowie Hendrix - Machine Gun Paco de Lucia - La Estiba; first track off Guitar Trio Al DiMeola - Majestic Dance (with Chick Corea and band) Carcano 08-04-06, 12:27 AM The solo on Van Halen's Dancing in the Streets. Pages solos in Ten years Gone or Travelling Riverside Blues! Xerxes 08-04-06, 12:55 AM My favourite guitar solo would have be the Island in the Sun VCD clip, by Weezer. It's very short, but soooo upbeat, melodic, just genius. Dunno if it even classifies as a true solo: http://weezernerds.com/av/iitssolo.mp3 oxypunk101 08-05-06, 02:54 AM If you like guitar solos listen to Dragonforce. Cheesy name, but these guys can play their instuments. Its a fast metal band, no screaming, and catchy all at once. Check it out, some of you may be suprised. Tyler 08-06-06, 12:28 AM Jerry Garcia doing Dancin' In The Streets. thedevilsreject 08-10-06, 03:16 PM black magic woman-santana G. F.
