View Full Version : fake docudrama: "the Path to 9/11"
WildBlueYonder 09-12-06, 12:53 AM Abc wasn't duped, they looked for a right-wing product, see below:
In fact, "The Path to 9/11" is produced and promoted by a well-honed propaganda operation consisting of a network of little-known right-wingers working from within Hollywood to counter its supposedly liberal bias. This is the network within the ABC network. Its godfather is far right activist David Horowitz, who has worked for more than a decade to establish a right-wing presence in Hollywood and to discredit mainstream film and TV production. On this project, he is working with a secretive evangelical religious right group founded by The Path to 9/11's director David Cunningham that proclaims its goal to "transform Hollywood" in line with its messianic vision.

Clockwood 09-12-06, 12:59 AM Better than Michael Moore-type bullshit.
spidergoat 09-12-06, 11:15 AM At least Moore was correct about what he said.
I don't have much of a problem with this show, it was well done. It did seem prejudiced against the dems, especially Clinton, but I don't expect dramas to be totally historically accurate. I think some people are making too big a deal about it. It's just freaking TV.
I'm impressed there were no commercials, they should do that more often.

the problem with that attitude is that there are 100 million redstate americans that thought it was a factual, according to hoyle documentary, im sure.
spidergoat 09-12-06, 06:21 PM according to who?
You have a point, but maybe it will lead some to find out the facts for themselves. At least some edutainment is better than total ignorance.

edutainment is fine.
propogandatainment is not.

Hmm, almost all such entertainment is "propaganda" of one kind or another, isn't it?

spidergoat 09-12-06, 06:54 PM Sure, and the Lord of the Rings wasn't true to the book, either, but I didn't mind so much. It would be pathetic if people formed their whole opinion about the subject based on ABC's miniseries.
Buffalo Roam 09-12-06, 07:05 PM spidergoat, yeah the do as I say not as I do boy, he has investments in big auto, big oil, military contractors, just check out the book, Do As I Say (Not As I Do): Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy, by Peter Schweizer,

He's right. He doesn't own a single share. He owns tens of thousands of shares – including nearly 2,000 shares of Boeing, nearly 1,000 of Sonoco, more than 4,000 of Best Foods, more than 3,000 of Eli Lilly, more than 8,000 of Bank One and more than 2,000 of Halliburton,

Lord of the Rings didnt try to convince you that Merry was one of the Nazgul, either. :p
TW Scott 09-12-06, 10:39 PM At least Moore was correct about what he said.
No he wasn't and he twisted interviews and images to get his delusional ideas across.
madanthonywayne 09-12-06, 11:48 PM I thought it was pretty good. Even the most controversal part, the scene where the CIA guys are ready to take out Bin Ladin, wasn't that far from the truth. It was representative of several occasions when the Clinton administration could have taken out Bin Laden.
As they made clear with the many disclaimers, it was not a documentary. Many of the characters presented were amalgums of many people. The same for some of the events portrayed. As it was it was five hours long with no commercials, they had to simplify things a bit.
maybe Merry wasn't a Nazgul but the hobbits are pure evil

TW Scott 09-13-06, 10:10 PM There was enough wrong for one of the interviewee's to sue and have a credible case. A soldier who had lost a leg and was on some massive painkillers. Michael Moore used his image and an out of context snippet to make it look like the bush administration was doing nothing to help wounded veterans.
