War

War used to be defined as an armed conflict between two or more nations. It has since become recognized as the use of violence by any organized group against another (see "The Transformation of War, by Martin Van Creveld). It is also used colloquially as an unarmed conflict which may or may not include lots of lovely violence. Pacifists are against war and all for peace, but they easily forget that without war there cannot be peace. On the other hand, there can be peace without war.

War and the Economy

War often stimulates the economy. Especially the textile industry and the dry cleaning sector do good business due to the proliferation of soiled pants on the battlefield. See spuriousmonkey.
