The Present (also known as now) is the moment or period of time which precedes The Past, but is not as bleeding edge neato-terrific as The Future.
A human observer existing in the present is in a constant state of watching moments pass by. Things which haven't happened yet suddenly happen, and then transform into a state of having just happened. It's a bit boring, The Present, to be honest, lacking both the glamour and mystique of The Past and the breathless, heady buzz of The Future. The Present's a bit of a deserted, late-night bus-station in comparison - anyone with any sense just wants to get the hell out of there.
