television is the ability to transmit pictures with radio waves. there are two types of television, black and white, and, color. the only difference between the two is that the black/white set lacks the circuitry to decode the color information and the picture tube, a color tube is required for color sets. television transmits all the video, sound, and color information in a single 6Mhz channel. the color information is transmitted in the sidebands of a signal 3.57 Mhz from the lower edge of the channel. the sound is a +/-25 Khz FM signal at approximatelt 4.5 Mhz from the lower edge of the channel. television was standardized in the US by RCA. the US standard is called NTSC.
