A kilogram is the standard unit of [[mass] (and not weight).

The prototype kilogram, to which all other masses on Earth are ultimately referenced, is a particular cylinder of platinum-iridium alloy kept in Paris.

There are 1000 grams in a kilogram. There are approximately 28.3 grams in one ounce.

In the civilised world the correct spelling is kilogramme.
