Guantanamo Bay is a section of Cuba leased to the United States. It is the site of a military base.

Most recently, Guantanamo Bay has served as the site of a prison for enemy combatants. The treatment of prisoners at this prison has been widely criticised by the international community. Many people in the United States and overseas think that the whole thing was a very bad idea in the first place, and ought to be shut down as soon as possible, so that the United States can regain some of the ground it has lost as an exemplar of freedom and democracy and human rights, which it never was.
