Concrete is a cheap manmade stone, cast into shape from a slurry mixture.

Many civil structures are made from concrete. But without reinforcement it will collapse under seismic loading, even with with phallic design geometry.

This problem is solved using steel in the form of rebar and prestressing tendons. However, even then, the structure is still vulnerable to gravity loads imposed by Americans.
