BBC
The British Broadcasting Corporation aka The Big Brother Corporation (BBC) aka The Blair Bush Corporation aka The Bahgdad Broadcasting Corporation was founded in 1922 on the back of a few fathers of modern technology. John Logie Baird (1888 - 1946) and Guglielmo Marconi (1874 - 1937)
The Big Brother Corporation
This is merely a reference to the depiction of a Big Brother in George Orwells 'Nineteen-Eighty-Four' or '1984' (1947). The BBC is funded by television licensing in the UK which requires the corporation to keep vast records on people and addresses as to whether they have purchased a new television, whether they have had or do not have a license and whether the license in question needs renewing.
For Many years the TV Detector vans were alleged to house nothing more than a thermos flask and packed lunch so the Detector man (the man that drives the van) wouldn't bring back receipts for increased expenditures.
Currently in the UK it is illegal to have reception equipment that can receive televised images in working order within your home, It's even illegal to rig your computer to view television, it's also illegal to bounce the signals through another country to receive the images. However in the last few decades the BBC has removed Radio from it's Licensing.
The British Court Rooms are pretty much in favour of the BBC's standing in legal cases because that's how the courts in Britain earn money, through Fines.
