pronounced (sock-ra-tees) not (so-crates)

Ancient Greek philosopher - the teacher of Plato.

His name is pronounced "So crates". This, I have on the reliable authority of Bill and Ted. Some scholars and other nobodies with an education have argued that the correct pronounciation is actually "Sock-rat-ees", but what would they know?
