War on Paper

Approximately 57 people a year die from paper-cuts, prompting the War on Paper. Initially the war started badly, when the President cut himself signing anti-paper laws. Despite his agonizing death, the Vice President was on hand to push through the legislation. Approximately 987 paper making facilities were firebombed the following year.

Eventually the leaders saw sense and decided to compromise, allowing paper to continue as long as each page was lined with rubber edges. The great tradegy was that the war could have been stopped earlier, however the messenger carry the orders to cease fire was himself mistaken for a paper-weilding manic insurgent. Around 30 bullets were positioned into his skull with some force. An investigation was undertaken however the report was accidently incinerated. In the end the War came to an end when the army could no longer order more ammunition. Since then, many nations have stockpiled vast quantities of paper in an attempt to close the Paper Gap.
