Misspelling Gandhi

A controversial movie made by Oliver Stone on the misspelling of Gandhi and the social upheaval it has caused around the world, starring Tom Cruise ("Gandhi"), Edith Piaf (Gandhi's hardboiled secretary) and Charles Darwin (as himself).

Some people misspell Gandhi as "Ghandi". Then other people call those first people "idoits". This makes the Baby Gandhi cry. But not as much as when people don't correct "idoits" in the name of sceance.

This is not to be confused with the "coming-of-age" movie "Misspelling Ghandi" (2006) directed by Oliver Stone. The film is about the travels of a young Gandhi in Britain and his trials in overcoming the irony of phonetic discrimination. At one point in the movie, children at a local primary school circle and phonetically taunt him by chanting "Ghandi, Ghandi, Ghandi". He attempts to peacefully defuse the situation, but is beaten with Tesco bags. Later in the movie, Gandhi wins the love and admiration of the crowd by starting a rock band, and not eating. Roger Ebert described it as "heartwarming and dark, a real tour de farce of human emotion". (4 stars)

Misspelling Gandhi II: The Krunk in Kashmir

This is the "coming-of-death" film about Gandhi's travels in Kashmir. A local and corrupt mufti condemns him and his free-wheeling, tolerant ways [1]. Gandhi's just looking for a quiet place to settle down, but every time he gets out, they drag him back in. There's just three things left for this pacifist-pushed-too-far: an RPG, an M-60 machine gun and a debt of bloody, flaming vengeance. Roger Ebert described it as "heartwarming and dark, a real turnaround for the actor. Finally this guy gets to kick some ass." (4 1/2 stars)
