Fission is a nuclear process where a larg atom splits into two smaller atoms. This can happen either spontaniously as in background radiation or it can be forced to happen as in nuclear bombs and power stations. The end result of spontanious fission is lead. see half life, alpha particle, beta particle, gamma rays.

Fission is also what men do on a weekend when that sexually-rapacious beauty they married has swelled to the size of a house, developed a temper worse than Comrad Stalin's, and taken to placing concealed roller-skates on the stairs.
