Convergence is a term that is used in many scientific disciplines and technical processes. Usually it refers to something coming together.

Convergent Evolution

In evolution the term convergent evolution indicates when two separate lineages evolved a comparable form or function, such as both bats and birds evolving wings, while both evolved wings independently of each other.

convergence in TV

a term used in color television. a color set has three electron guns, each one must be set to point at the same pixel. each pixel is composed of three colors, red, green, and blue.the red gun must point to the red pixel, the blue gun to the blue pixel, and the green gun to the green pixel. this would be simple if the CRT was round (spherical) in shape. since the guns are not at the same point and the screen is not spherical and the scanning is all over the screen the CRT must be converged. this is a one time setup that needs no reset or adjustment.
