Animal welfare

Animal welfare is the concern that animals ought to be treated humanely by human beings.

This does not preclude animals being treated as property by human beings.

It is quite possible to support animal welfare without subscribing to an animal rights position, and in fact many major animal protection organisations adopt a welfare stance rather than a rights stance in regard to animals.

see also ALF - note that ALF is an animal rights group, not an animal welfare group.
