Rainbow
From Science Encyclopedia
A rainbow is a type of beautiful arch shaped multicolored object that sometimes appears in the horizon after a rain storm has passed.
Scientists originally thought rainbows were prisms caused by the passage of sunlight through water vapor. However more recent evidence suggests they are actually stationary beams of curved light, and are significant indicators of something special happening.
Catching up to a rainbow
Catching up to a rainbow is extremely difficult. They only appear for short periods of time, and are always far away from from person looking at them. Most people don't even bother chasing after them, and chose to simply gaze in awe while wondering how lucky they would be if it was closer.
Those who do manage to reach one of the rainbow's ends (the parts of the arch that connect the rainbow to the ground) are rewarded a pot of gold by a generous leprechaun. Others who manage to make it over the rainbow are granted access to the land of Oz.
Trivia
- The colors of a rainbow appear in the order red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet (aka - Roy G. Biv). Of course, it's also worth pointing out that these are sandwiched between two slightly less visible colors infra red and ultra violet (aka - Irroy G. Bivuv)
- Rainbows also appear next to waterfalls and lawn sprinklers. Unfortunately, those kinds aren't very special.
