Feng shui is a philosophy of interior decoration and design based around the belief that evil spirits can enter your house and wreak havoc if you don't take appropriate precautions.

Appropriate precautions include placing mirrors and pot-plants in strategic locations around your house, making sure your front door is at a certain angle to the street, buying a fish tank, tilting all your pictures so they aren't straight, and more.

Despite their immense capacity to harm people, evil spirits are confused and rendered harmless by fish, mirrors and pot plants.
