Can the density of a planet tell us anything about its surface??

A high density usally indicates that it's made of rock if it's low (Low can be 2000) then the object is proberly mostly ice.

So you can make a good gues if the surface are silicates(rock) or ice.

If the density is lower still then you are likely dealing with a gas giant, having no defined surface as such. Saturn is less dense than water, for example.

You might also be able to make some approximations as to the presence, absence and nature of the atmosphere that would be retained by the planet (coupled with information on its primary: distance and spectral class). With that knowledge you could then make reasonable guesses as to the type of weathering that might be taking place, and consequently some of the characteristic landscape features you might encounter.
