my main harddrive crashed a few days ago, and i lost all but my movies and music. ive managed to recover my home directory and a few programs onto my other harddrives with a fresh windows install, but my computer freezes up whenever i try to access my games or iso partitions(i guess that part of the disk is the worst damaged) is there any way of recovering the data on these drives? or will i need to wait until the disk is replaced then go copy all of my games back from my mates computers?

It's possible that some of the heads on the drive have been damaged which means a whole region of your disk (particularly your games) can't be read. If you are moving files from that drive to the new one I really do suggest you shove EVERYTHING through a virus scanner as it's possible your drive might not have just been killed from it's usage and the last thing you'd want to do is infect another system.

Files to check would specifically be in regards to share folders or games (cracks etc).

all of my cracks/downloads are on another harddrive, i figure if i had a virus(despite both a physical firewall, firewall software and a virus scan every morning it would have infected my other 2 harddrives aswell.

it is the same model(possibly the same drive as i have 2 of the same) that crashed on me about 6 months earlier, so im pretty confident its purely a hardware fault. needless to say im ditching seagate and buying a hitachi to replace it this time.
