Democracy got the shit bombed out of it by the neighbors - just as it was beginning to recover from a generation of military occupation.

I wonder when people will wake up against bullies like hezbullah. not gonna happen as long as israel is in the picture? the hatred towered jews outweigh the Lebanese.

Hezbollah is gaining power in Lebanon because the Israelis invaded a few months ago, and wrecked the standing government.

Hezbollah formed in the first place as a resistance group against Israel's long military occupation of Lebanon.

this is not a civil war, it is a war between those favoring Israel and those favoring Arab world

most lebonese don't support hezbullah? lebanon was doing just fine as a democracy( well technically lebanon has the same form of government as britan and japan) till the Israeli bombed the shit out of the infastructure.

and of course the syrian presence in lebanon and the civil wars that preceded has nothing to do with it including the hariri case. its all about israel

The Syrian presence was the only thing preventing the Israeli invasion. Do you ever wonder why right after Syrian troops withdrawal that this is the time that Israel chose to invade Lebanon? Doesn't take a genius to figure this out.

israeli forces destroyed 3 syrians divisions in 82 including other aerial syrian forces. not excluding the fact you are so eagerly supporting the syrian invasion of lebanon

What has been more devastating to Lebanon, Syria or Israel? Think about that if you are able.

i think instead of asking whos done more damage as if we are in kindergarten we should focus on the fact that lebanon currently is without support while hezbullah proxy of iran is taking over by force.

to me? i have nothing against the lebanese - even though they most certainly hate us. i prefer seniora any day past hezbullah. if it wasnt a boomerang i had no problem helping them fight hezbullah.

It's apparent they can't govern themselves, the French should come back and sort the place out.
