please can you remove religion from the philosohy section? i have spoke to many religious folk and they say that classing religion as philosophy is wrong because its a faith not a philosophy. and apart from that i like philosophy and its insulting to philosophers. religion should gets its own forum section with comparative religion, and psuedoscience maybe? peace.
yes throw the religion forum into the cesspool, in its long history it has done nothing but make people fight about if god exists or not. you have 3 types of people, people who think god exists, people who think god does not exist, and people who dont know if god exists or not, the pro god people defend god and religion, the anti god people attack god and religion, and the people who dont know are stuck in the middle trying to get the 2 sides to stop fighting and think from both sides, and its stupid because we never get anywhere, the religion forum is stupid. i myself reside in the "i dont know group" and all i see is pointless fighting, nobody has any decent debates here about religious subjects, its all just 1 big long ever-lasting debate about weather god exists or not, all of these threads should be combined into 1 huge super thread and shoved in the cesspool. i will copy and paste this into my new thread. peace. peace.

Religion is a subset of philosophy. My definition of religion: Religion - A codified philosophical system that asserts a belief in the existence of at least one transcendental state or plane of existence beyond that which can be materially verified, and attempts to ascertain or teach the ideology that will assist the practitioner in transcending beyond this material existence to the other state(s) or plane(s). Comparitive Religion, on the other hand, is a subset of Anthropology (a science). Religion belongs in the Philosophy section. If you don't like the way the monkeys and God's children behave themselves and can't stand the moronic arguments, stay out of the Religion section - I usually do.
yeah i usualy dont go in the religion section, and when i do go in there i usualy end up posting a thread telling people to behave themselves. i guess its a philosophy, but religious people tend to not think of it that way, i like your defenition its better than the dictionary, peace.
Comparative Religion is a particular scientific field that analyzes the similarities and differences of themes, myths, rituals and concepts among the world's mythologies. It has little to do with philosophy and even less with pseudoscience. p.s. I haven't visited Religion forum for more than a short peak for years.
