hi, i bought the parts for a computer and built it myself not long ago, and it's been working fine for the last couple of months. However it has recently been restarting all by it's self at what seems like completely random times, i also noticed that what looks like a rather important fan on the mother board has stopped spinning. I have heat protection functions eneabled in my bios, is is possible that my computer is rebooting in order to protect it'self from overheating? any other suggestions? also it doesnt do it very often and it is quite a cold room anyway but it always seems to be after it's been running for quite a while possibly when it's had a time to heat up! thnx for any thoughts posted.

You should have a look on your motherboard's manual : what fan is it ? And what do you have on your PC ? Do you have a video card or an integrated chipset, a sound card... ?
When you say "not often", what does it mean ? Every 10 minutes, every hour... ?
