You can probably click on it or check fpr a popup that was blocked, try dnloading it first - https://addons.mozilla.org/plugins/

i downloaded and installed the quicktime plug-in from the above link.
instead of the broken logo now it displays a logo with a question mark in it.

Do you have QT installed from Apple? i use QTPro but haven't been using Firefox, looks like it finds the plugin now but nothing to associate it with...maybe.

gues you re-started firefox after the install too.

Doesn't youtube use Flash instead of QT?

I don't know what they're showing, but Youtube videos are all Flash.
Just checked it out.

You've probably messed up something. :p

A stupid reason, because there are no problems watching Youtube videos on Firefox.
I have no idea what you have done to your systems.

I just remember (from helping other people set it up on their computers) that you have to download all sorts of extensions, and it's a hassle. My IE works out of the box, so to speak.

That's just one of my reasons though - I have many.

not so, firefox is a fine browser.
i just reinstalled my OS to get rid of some OEM crap, before the reinstall firefox played the youtube videos and worked fine.

avatar is probably right, i screwed something up along the line.

From another forum with a quick search, you might want to check your plugins have loaded correctly.

Type:
about:plugins
in the URL box of Firefox to find out what plugins you have installed.

* Mozilla Default Plug-in * No

this says that the mozilla default plugin is not enabled
how do i enable it?

it also has this to say about it:
File name: npnul32.dll
Default Plug-in

Don't worry about the Mozilla default plugin, what version of Quicktime did it say?

The answer to your problem is here:
Quicktime plugin takes over Flash

If you see a Quicktime symbol with a question mark where the Flash content should be, it means that Quicktime has taken over handling of Flash files. Open the Quicktime Control Panel, select the Browser tab (or select "Browser Plug-in" from the drop-down menu in Quicktime 6 or earlier). Click the "Mime settings" button and uncheck "Flash media" or "Flash file" under "Miscellaneous" and restart your browser. If the problem persists, remove the file "pluginreg.dat" from the "Firefox" or "Mozilla" folder in the profile folder location. Additionally, remove any "npqt*.dll" files found in the Mozilla Suite or Firefox installation directory's plugins folder. [3].

I had the same problem and have just fixed it. When you installed a new version of quicktime, by default it tries to play flash files - hence the problem;

Hope it works for you!! :
