crappy places to visit eh?

1. the north island. only difference from the south island is they have ticks.
2. australia. went there for a month, rained 28/31 days, and got covered it leeches every river i swam in.
3. america. had to spend about 5 hours there on the way to canada a few years back, slums stacked on top of each ether, water with chemicals in it, visible smog in the sky, and unless you pay the cashier extra money they will put your order last, no matter how long youve been waiting... WTF is up with that?

Nowhere is crappy to visit. Everywhere has its own unique aspects and things that expand your mind.

Places in the country you're from are probably the least desirable to visit. Amongst these I'd rate 'new towns' in Scotland as the shittiest. Parts of Dunfermline, Livingston (although good shopping to be had) and Cumbernauld are prime examples.

Impoverished and grotty places in foreign countries get my imagination going and I enjoy visiting them. Seeing Soviet era apartment blocks in Estonia was cool, but I feel for the people that have to live there. Utterly depressing landscape.

Boring and crappy aren't really the same thing. For boring I'd say places that depend on package tourism. I went on a few package holidays with the parents and they're good to chill out I suppose, but that's it. Finding your own way is extremely rewarding. Trying to communicate with locals, in a non-descript village devoid of tourists, when you don't speak the lingo is great fun. People wonder why the fuck you're there and you do yourself, but you get into situations you otherwise wouldn't. People are more inclined to speak to you than in touristy places where they're trying to go about their daily business and you're a constant thorn in their side. Everything is cheaper, too.

I can't stay in one place for long periods of time and stay sane. I need to move around and as far as I'm concerned anywhere new is awesome.
