    is it the media doing? nobody focused on what sarkozy really did, only on tabloid stories.

    Apparently he failed to adress any of the issue he promised to handle during his campaign. The biggest one seems to be the French citizens's decline of their purchasing power in comparison with neighboring countries like Germany.

    Also, a lot of the reforms he tried to implement, such as an older retirement age, were not readily accepted by the French workers and many, many, strikes have ensued.
