blog and chat

Two things.

Am looking at chat a little bit. SciChat has few people on it, and I'm to scared(chicken!) to plunge headlong into it. Am looking for places to learn, and some polite manner-type stuff I should know.

As I'm tryingto start a journal, I figured it might be interesting to include a blog, or something similar, aside from personal stuff. Any comments?

Its not a website. You have to use a IRC application such as mIRC. Thats the most popular Windows client. Download it, install it, and then logon to the server he listed above.

Behold the vastness of my lack of knowledge.

 

Once you're on just type /list to get a list of the channels (or chat rooms, as it were) that you can join. There are about 300 going on that server at any one time. . . not a hell of a lot, but probably more than enough if you're feeling daunted and just wanna' start dabbeling in more online chattin'. It's a hell of a lot more friendly than Dalnet, that's for sure. . .

Oh by the way if you do get mIRC all you need to do to connect to the server I gave you is type /server irc.critter.net and enter that, and you'll be on your way.

 

Never do that on big networks though

 

Okay, I'm more confused now. Can someone give me bit of theory of operation?

And no one's responded about blogs.

 

I have been seduced by the darkside. I'm on AIM. Continuing on to blogs, any suggestions? Good places to shop around?
