i have no where NEAR the knowledge and understanding of the composition of music to even venture a guess at the best song ever. But my Favorite song right now is "Poem" By taproot. and my favorite song EVER is "hey jude" or "eleanor rigby" by the beattles. OF course, ask me tommorow and i'm likely to give you a different answer.

Mario, Poem is good, but I can't stand the Beatles. I think that "Of the Room" by Dredg is one of the best, but ahead of that is the Bohemian Rhapsody and Under Pressure by Queen.

Money, money, money
Must be funny
In the rich man's world
Money, money, money
Always sunny
In the rich man's world
Aha-ahaaa
All the things I could do
If I had a little money
It's a rich man's world

"I'm Cold"-- The Cure

You're begging me to stay
But I'm laughing in your face
You're so desperate
Not to let those years of care
All go to waste
But it was you who wanted love
Not romance
You have to pay the price
My body may be made of fire
But my soul is made of ice

I'm me
I'm cold
I'm cold
I'm told
I'd love to love you girl
But my body has just been sold

Fight Song - Marilyn Manson. This is THE quintissential rock anthem.

The Great Below - NIN. One of the most sublime and transcendent works of art ever created.

Satisfaction - Stones. Incredibly good, incredibly influential.

best song ever?

what the best song ever?

I would debate and say that question is unanswerable.

Dude, it's a question of opinion. And our opinion is based on personal experiences, ie Did the song happen at a special moment or is it just the best song you've heard. I think it's good to see what everybody elses favourite songs are. But a top 10 songs thing would've been better I think

Too many to choose from and mood dependant really, but I think that Queen - Innuendo is a very very good all-round song. You will find songs from Queen in many peoples top - ten lists

Thats why its unanswerable
is it just the best song you've heard.
He didnt put it like that, although that would have been more sensible, he put it like this:
The Best Song EVER!!

I know there is no best song, but why do some songs touch our hearts/minds/person/being and why only at certain times? WHY?

nostalgia? possibly but when i hear some songs for the first time they hit me i know i love that song, that is not nostaliga is it? i think not.

And as for personal preference, how is this arranged in a musical sense? how do we develop that? is it born? is it learnt from what our parents played when we were kids? what decides our personal preference? drugs?:bugeye: and if drugs then there is some psychological meaning as to why we like songs i think.

Chill? don't say that it's the only thing which makes me do the opposite, luckily i am still chilled.
I was genuinely asking you how personal preference develops and i was interested in what your answer might have been, i was not going mental(whatever that means to you, perhaps using more mental powers is a bad thing to you? perhaps :D)

and you did answer my question, just not directly

I can't pick one favourite song for all time. Too many great ones. Even a top ten would be difficult (though maybe not impossible).

My favourite song to listen to at the moment? Well, I'm feeling romantic at the moment. Yeah, yeah, so I'm like every one else. Meet a girl, fall for her and all of a sudden a romantic song makes more sense, means something more.

Tragically Hip - Fireworks
If there's a goal that everyone remembers
It was back in ol '72
We all squeezed the stick and we all pulled the trigger
And all I remember is sitting beside you
You said you didn't give a fuck about hockey
I never saw someone say that before
You held my hand and we walked home the long way
You were loosening my grip on Bobby Orr

Isn't it amazing anything's accomplished
When the little sensation gets in your way?
Not one ambition whisperin' over your shoulder
Isn't it amazing you can do anything?

We hung out together every single moment
'Cause that's what we thought married people do
Complete with the grip of artificial chaos
And believin' in the country of me and you
Crisis of faith and crisis in the Kremlin
And yeah we'd heard all that before
It's wintertime the house is solitude with options
And loosening my grip on a fake cold war

Isn't it amazing what you can accomplish
When you don't let the nation get in your way?
Not one ambition whisperin' over your shoulder
Isn't it amazing, you can do anything?

Next to your comrades in the national fitness program
Caught in some eternal flexed arm hang
Dropping to the mat in a fit of laughter
Showing no patience tolerance or restraint

Fireworks exploding in the distance
Temporary towers soar
Fireworkds emulatin' heaven
Till there are no stars anymore
Fireworks aimin' straight at heaven
Temporary towers soar
Till there are no stars shinin' up in heaven
Till there are no stars anymore

Isn't it amazing what you can accomplish
When the little sensation gets in your way?
No ambition whisperin' over your shoulder
Isn't it amazing what you can accomplish, eh?

This one thing probably never goes away
I think that this one thing is probably supposed to stay
This one thing doesn't have to go away

Canadiana, the cold war, hockey, the '72 series, romance. What more could I possible want??
