whenever i try to start the game, my screens go black and then change resolution in preparation of loading the game, but it crashes out to the desktop immediately after with no error warnings or anything. i have followed its troubleshooting guide, which reccomended updating my video drivers(luckily a workmate had them, or it would have been a 4 hour download).

i installed the new drivers, and still the same error. i am considering rolling back my drivers to the ones that come with the game, as the game was designed to run with them. but im not sure what effect that will have on the rest of my graphics.

also, does anyone know how to fix the installer on it so that it measures space on the games partition rather than my windows partition? i had to move my swapfile to clear up 1.6gb on my windows partition when it was installing to my games drive.

Difficult to tell without information like which GFX card it is etc.

how much ram its a ram intense game do to the pressure they put on their programmers. More and more games are being programmed to just shutdown if you down have the specs kind of amusing not sure about this one

try deleting the intro garbage under where you installed it /mods/bf2/movies maybe its their advertisements causing the problem i take out dice and ea because i get annoyed at advertising. Ive had the problem with other games and for some reason using a crack fixed it.

do you have the latest patch? Its a great game i heart it

It sounds like a video driver problem.

I would try applying the latest game patches. If that doesn't work, is there a setup program that you could use before getting into the game? Maybe the settings are too high, or there's a slightly incompatible setting.

If none of that works, you might have to roll back to the old driver version. I've been having driver problems lately, and after I rolled back 2 vresions, it's all been working fine.

ive got pall the patches installed, and it was running on my old computer(XP-2200, 512mb, R9600se-128mb), so it should run on this one(K64-3200, 1024mb, GF6600GT-256mb)

I'm only guessing here but looking up some info on the GFX card suggests that it supports GDDR3 RAM, I'm not entirely sure but perhaps the RAM type is incompatible, if this was the case it would be the first time I have heard of where thats happened (So in likelihood it's probably an unrealistic speculation)

You could try uninstalling the game and then reinstalling it, it's possible that your install might of been corrupted.
