i think that this was unfairly closed.
the simple fact that the vast majority of soldiers that die in combat are poor is worthy of discussion.
it seems like its an obvious thing, but the very fact that it is obvious makes it intensely depressing.
that people who have no idea what they are fighting for will fight other people who have no idea what they are fighting for just for the profit of their rulers.

Calling all soldiers stupid and poor and college students rich and smart is not even worth discussing its just a broad and insulting statement. I know plenty of smart soldiers and plenty of dumber than dumb college students.

You really are clueless. First of all, the majority of PEOPLE are poor and in developed countries the majority are what? AVERAGE.

Now look at history of every nation of every civilization, look at the warlords of today in Africa and other places. People like to what? F_ _ _ _. Just dont fall for the bullshit and there wont be any problems.

ok,im going to ignore yet another insult from you and try to respond to your post.

what bullshit am i falling for?

talking about warlords you are shining a magnifying glass on exactly what i am talking about.a person or small group of people who exploit many people for their own ends.convince poor people to die to further a cause that will have little to no benifit for themselves.

In my experience, today's soldiers are of above-average intelligence. I've worked with 3 in recent years. Two were unquestionably very smart people. One was maybe less so - but by no means dumb - who read constantly in an effort to improve himself.

Most people go into the army, not with the express intention of running riot killing people, but because it provides a very varied and interesting career with lots of opportunities - if you survive long enough. The fact is that, if you're not frightened of a bit of danger, it's a smart career choice in many ways.

Hmm.. I think not being afraid of obvious danger is a sign something being wrong. I think soldiers are afraid of danger, they just suppress the thought of it or are lied to when they make the step to join the army.
Alternatively, some may have psychological problems.. but I guess they test for that.

Well, obviously I wouldn't start such a thread unless I had alot to say on it.

The reason I started it with that scandalous statement was to get you al thinking, and get a heated debate going. Then I'd express the rest of my opinions and get much more into detail.

Obviously the Admins here are toodumb to realize the realness of the fact stupid people are culled. I planned to add alot to it, but there is to much sensorship.

Admins... you already know what I think of you, and there is no need to express it.

Isn't it a fact the uneducated or lower educated people get more children on average than highly educated people ?

I "realize the realness" of what you were saying, its just the manner in which you stated it was clearly untrue. If you said "why are the majority of soldiers poor and uneducated", then backed it up with some kind of proof then your thread would still be open me thinks.

.

not even that, think of how many people's hobbies or occupations are potentially fatal.its just a certain personality type that can deal with it.
i couldnt snowboard down a 60 degree slope or tightrope a gorge but i dont think that people who would are deficient.

on the topic of the thread close,i think its kind of weird that a thread with the most offensive jokes ever and a thread about how a moderator hates certain people can be allowed to stay open but a thread like barbie girls can be closed.

Hmm yes, but I really do think that those people suppress the thought of actual danger. It's like driving a car.. everyone knows it's inherently dangerous but we do it anyway. "It won't happen to me" etc..

Yes, most soldiers are poor. Or rather: few are rich. And no, this isn't an accident.

but the danger is often the rush.the feeling you get after you have acomplished something is often tied to the risk involved in doing it.
2 examples.
1 from me:asking a girl who i have liked for ages and ages on date
1 from a boarder: doing a backflip over a ridge on a fucking massive mountain.

different people get it from different places.

exactly.

a quote from wellington during the battle of waterloo when a gun battery had napoleon in its sights and wanted to fire on him

"it is not the business of leaders to fire upon each other"

(that quote is from memory so probably not word for word but the meaning is there)

Yes but when they actually do get into an accident they often stop doing it all together.
They like the rush but don't really think something bad will happen.
It's more like the chance of something happening that causes the rush.
If they knew for a fact that they would get hurt they wouldn't do it.

often.
stats?

most of the pro-boarders (substitute this for any dangerous sport) have had multiple injuries and keep going.

infact (anecdotal but i assume true) an australian pro-bike rider had his hand broken so many times that the bones had to be fused.the shape he chose?that which he could grip the throttle with!

Total rubbish. Snowboarders love boarding with legs in plaster. It's a man thing.

Also meaning they pretty much have to stop. You said (I'm paraphrasing): injury instils fear, to the point where people are afraid to continue. It doesn't.

Nope I get hurt all the time a couple times I have been seiously injured while on a bike, it never stopped me though.

Then there is something wrong with them.

What caused the serious injury ? Not just riding your bike, right ?

Well My brakes stopped working and I went over a ledge and crashed into sharp rocks and thorns, then the bike fell on me, hit me in my face and somehow the kickstand went through my ankle and broke the bone

Mod Hat — Comment and closure

A brief comment before this is locked and redirected:

i think that this was unfairly closed.

We actually do have a process for that very complaint. Whining about it in EM&J is not on the list. See "Complaining about Moderators (http://www.sciforums.com/showthread.php?t=79023)" for the basic overview.

Nonetheless, if, after going through the prescribed steps, you are still unsatisfied with the outcome, EM&J, while not the last place in the world to post your complaint thread, isn't exactly high on the list. In fact, it's inadvisable. At best, a complaint thread will be redirected to SFOG. In this case, however, owing both to the poor topic statement (I have no idea what discussion you are referring to) and the general atmosphere of low-grade, 93% thought-free posts comprising the larger part of this discussion, this one will be locked down to prevent further atrocities and redirected to the Cesspool.
