How much of our models of the universe would have to be rewritten when we can go out and see what's going on for ourselves up close and personal(i.e. taking a ship to a solar system to see if there are planets) rather than relying on telescopes and stuff?
In my opinion, Practical interstellar travel by Wormholes is the only way..... it just takes too long any other way... not to mention the relativistic effects of "speed". We need to mold space to our needs, just as we have done to the earth however bad it sometimes may seem. because it just wont work any other way.
I was thinking differently. If, for example, you could park your ship close enough to a black hole to see the event horizon in real time, and even use probes to actively investigate it(through a rock in and see what happens), what would we learn that might be different than what we think today? Just as our ideas about how planets form changed after going to the moon and Mars, what would we learn when we go to planets outside of our solar system? Or go into a nebula and watch a star form up close and personal? What new pictures would Wet1 post? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
is there any science to back up what you said? just interested if its your idea or if there is any evidence that this is possible.. thanks...
Then what is? Isnt that what you were talking about? How much theory has to be re-written for practical interstellar travel?
